This motorcycle was hand built for Oliver Wilson of Westport, Connecticut. Wilson, a well established property developer hailing from Great Britain played a large role in the design of the bike, making clear his list of requirements for the end product. Finished in Ferrari Blu Pozzi, a color matched frame compliments a British Police gas tank. Highly polished hand made brass details are found throughout the build, complimenting the gold anodized suspension components and tank roundels.

The donor bike was a fully faired 1988 BMW R100RS, a matching number bike sourced out of Chicago. The build retains the original drivetrain, including the engine, gearbox and final drive along with the original wheels; all of which has been overhauled and rebuild to exceed the standard of when it was new. A crank out engine rebuild with new bearings throughout is at the heart of the build, new nikasil cylinders are complimented by custom made long connecting rods with short skirt high compression billet pistons. The original charge and ignition system has been replaced with a modern TwinSpark setup with a crank mounted ignition pickup.

Fueling is provided by a set of 38mm SmartCarbs finishing in Obsidian Black, which are actuated by an internal throttle mechanism housed in a set of handmade handlebars, particularly special as the throttle now rides on a bearing instead of the original greased sleeve design.

You might notice the long and low oil pan; that’s a special piece made of magnesium and finished in a black cerakote. Boasting all the benefits of a deep sump pan without visually looking “deep”, the increased oil capacity is required to keep an Aircooled engine cool and a vital piece of the puzzle when upgrading these bikes for combined use in modern traffic and high performance situations. In addition to the increased oil capacity, we’ve also upgraded the oil cooler.

One of the biggest drawbacks of the original bike is the handling and braking system. Advances in stopping power are significant in the 40 years that have passed since the original development of this motorcycle. Combing top of the line suspension and brake components our primary focus is on safety and comfort. Ohlins front and rear take care of the suspension, bringing the bike up to standard and surpassing standards offered by the manufacturer on current bikes in the model range. The modern Brembo calipers stop the front wheel, while our renewal of the original drum brake does a great job of stopping the rear. The factory y spoke wheels have been refinished in satin black cerakote and are clad in very sticky oversized Metzeler race tec tires. The factory headlight bucket has been upgraded with an Adaptive LED JW Speaker light unit, supplied by Motodemic.

Flush-mounted Denali auxiliary lights adorn the frame, attached to brackets fabricated prior to refinishing. Other lighting includes a led tail light integrated in to the frame and an adaptive led headlight that lights up the side of the road that you are leaning.

Turn signals from Kellerman were installed under the seat, again holes were drilled and tapped before refinishing and wiring is routed through the frame.
